January 22 is the Day of Prayer for Legal Protection of Unborn Children
While the Catholic Church celebrates life every month of the year, the month of January is especially important in the celebration of life, because this is also the month when we are reminded of our challenges. It was on January 22, 1973 when the Supreme Court ruled that the constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman’s liberty to choose to have an abortion. Since then, countless lives have been lost and ruined. As followers of Christ we can be a place of refuge through our words, the care we provide and by sharing the gospel that brings life. Below are some suggestion on how you can pray for and support life!
Join us starting on January 16 for 9 Days for Life, a novena for the protection of human life. Each day’s intention is accompanied by a short reflection and suggested actions. Visit https://www.respectlife.org/9-days-signup to sign up online, or look for “hard” copies of the entire novena in the church gathering space. Parish groups are highly encouraged to pray this novena together and/or use the prayers as Opening Prayer at their meetings.
On the weekends of January 18/19 and 25/26, there will be a baby cradle in the church gathering space to accept donations of NEW baby items for Oxford Pregnancy Center, to assist in their life-saving work.
While the Center is appreciative of all donations, what they are most in need of currently is listed below. Let’s fill that cradle!
