Worship Commission

The Worship Commission meets the third Tuesday of each month, September through June. The function of this commission is the planning, preparation and evaluation of liturgical celebrations, and other worship services. Members of the commission assist the Liturgist informing parishioners of ministries and their training.

Eucharistic Ministers

Fully initiated members of the community are invited to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass as well as to the sick or home bound. Training is scheduled periodically and announced in the bulletin. Ministers are scheduled on a monthly basis according to Mass preference, or you may serve as a substitute minister as needed.        APRIL / MAY SCHEDULE

Ministers to the Sick & Home Bound

Men and women of the parish visit the sick and home bound members of the parish and those who are hospitalized, or confined to a nursing care facility. They take Holy Communion to them as requested. These parishioners help to extend our parish boundaries so that those who are unable to join us, because of illness or handicap, can still be with us spiritually. They must have a background check and attend a Protecting God’s Children Workshop. If you are unable to attend Mass but would like to receive the Eucharist, please call Julie Neal in the parish office to arrange for a home visit.

Mass Steward

Each liturgical celebration has a steward. A steward’s function involves preparing those items needed for that particular liturgical celebration, and removing items back to the sacristy for cleaning after the celebration has concluded. They also recruit volunteers for the Presentation of the Gifts to the Altar. The coordinator will schedule training as needed.

Lectors

Fully initiated members active in the Sacramental life of the community are invited to proclaim the Word of God at Mass as well as non-Eucharistic liturgies. Ministers receive Lector Workbooks so they may prepare before proclamation. Lectors are scheduled on a monthly basis according to Mass preference. Training for new Lectors is scheduled on an as needed basis.      APRIL / MAY SCHEDULE

Ushers

Men, women and teens are invited to assist in this ministry of hospitality. Ushers arrive early to assist in the preparation of a comfortable environment. They carry the collection baskets to the assembly, and are especially attentive to the needs of the elderly, the disabled and families with small children. Ushers distribute the bulletins after each Mass. All ushers are encouraged to serve as greeters.

Altar Servers

Boys and girls who have made their First Eucharist are invited to share in liturgical celebrations as Altar Servers. They assist the presider in prayer and in action throughout the liturgy. Servers are scheduled on a monthly basis according to Mass preference. Training is scheduled as needed and attendance at one session is required prior to serving.      APRIL / MAY SCHEDULE

Cross Stitchers

Volunteers cross-stitch bibs for upcoming baptisms. Children’s name and date of baptism are stitched on to the bibs. Bibs are supplied by the church.

Childrens Liturgy of the Word

A program adapted to meet the development level of children from 5-10 years of age. CLW is scheduled September through May during all Masses. Volunteers serve on a rotating basis according to their Mass preference, and lead the children in the Liturgy of the Word. All volunteers must receive a background check and attend a Protecting God’s Workshop in accordance with Archdiocesan guidelines. Training sessions for all leaders are announced in the bulletin.   2012 / 2013 Schedule

Wedding Rehearsal Team

Assist bride, groom and wedding party during wedding rehearsal and day of the wedding. Evening availability is needed.

Linen Care

Volunteers take linens home for laundering and ironing. This includes corporals, purificators, hand towels and dishtowels.

Altar Care

Altar care ministers are responsible for cleaning the church. Rotating teams are scheduled on a weekly basis to dust and polish the sanctuary, Word chapel, sacristy and the Gathering Area.

Music Ministry

The primary musical instrument in our worship is the human voice. Each of us are ministers of music at our liturgical celebrations as we all lift our voices together in sung prayer. The Music Ministry is involved in the leadership of these voices, and their musical accompaniment, in sung prayer. There are many ways to become involved in this ministry.

Sunday Choir

The Sunday choir sings at the 10:30 a.m. Mass each week from October through Pentecost. Rehearsal is at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in the church. A wide variety of music is sung. Contact Ingrid Kasper, Minister of Music, if you are interested.

Cantors

The cantors lead the assembly in sung prayer at Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Cantors practice with the Music Minister once a month on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Instrumentalists

Keyboard, brass, woodwinds, strings and percussion are invited to share their time and talent toward the Music Ministry. Practice with the Music Minister or the Folk Group is required.

Contemporary/Folk Group

Capable singers, guitarists and other musicians are invited to provide music for the Saturday 5:00 p.m. Mass. If you are interested in joining this group, contact Julie Neal.
